It's very common — and very useful — for a client to tell us "I want something like this site". References help us a lot to understand the style you're looking for. They're useful, and we ask for them.
What we don't do is copy a design exactly.
Why
Often the site you show us as an example belongs to another real estate agency, sometimes also our client. That design was made for that brand: its colors, its logo, its way of presenting itself.
Copying it would create two concrete problems. One for the other client, who paid for a design of their own. And another for you: a site identical to a competitor's doesn't set you apart, it confuses you with them.
We commit to the same with you: your design won't be given to anyone else.
How we work with your reference, then
When you send us an example site, we take what works from that design — how the information is organized, where the search bar goes, the rhythm of the sections, the overall feel — and reinterpret it with your brand: your logo, your palette, your typography, and a composition of your own.
And so you have something to compare, the second sample is a different proposal, designed from scratch for your agency, unrelated to the reference site.
That way you choose between something as close as possible to what you liked, and an alternative you might not have thought of. See About the design samples.
If the reference site is yours
That's a different case. If you already have your own website and want to keep your image, we can adapt it: it's your graphics and you decide what to do with them. The closer you want the adaptation to be, the more it makes sense to use the more flexible design product.
If you have your own designer
If you work with a graphic designer who can hand us the design already built, there's a specific option with a significant discount off the list price. The designer delivers the graphic design and we lay it out.
Contact us at websites@mapaprop.com and we'll explain the conditions and the material you need to submit.
