It shows as connected to Meta but I can't publish to my Facebook Page
Your account appears as connected in Mapaprop and your Instagram posts work fine, but when you go to publish a property this happens:
- The "Both networks" and "Facebook only" options appear grayed out, with a padlock.
- Below it says "Reconnect your account to enable Facebook".
- In Settings > Connect accounts, the Facebook row shows the label "Not enabled".
Why this happens
Because of the date you connected your account, not because of anything you did wrong.
Meta approved our permission to publish to Facebook Pages in July 2026. Connections made before that date were created without that permission — it simply didn't exist yet. Your connection works for Instagram, which was the only thing available when you connected.
Meta does not add new permissions to an existing connection: it must be authorized again once so that it includes them.
This is not an error or a problem with your account. If you publish to Instagram without issues, your connection is healthy — it just lacks the Facebook permission.
How to resolve it
- Go to Settings > Connect accounts and find the Meta (Instagram and Facebook) connection.
- Click Reconnect to enable Facebook. If you don't see that button, click Disconnect and then Connect again.
- Log in to Facebook with a user who is an administrator of the Page where you want to publish.
- On Meta's permissions screen, accept all the permissions requested. If you remove any of them, the connection is completed but Facebook is left not enabled again.
- Go back to the property and click Publish. All three options should appear available.
You lose nothing by reconnecting. Your properties, your previous Instagram posts, and your settings remain intact. It's a one-time step: once reconnected, the account is enabled for both networks.
The user you reconnect with must be an administrator of the Facebook Page. If you log in with a user who only has access to the Instagram account, Facebook will continue to appear as not enabled.
Requirements, in case any have changed
To publish to both networks you need, just as when connecting for the first time:
- An Instagram Business / Professional account (it does not work with personal accounts).
- A Facebook Page linked to that Instagram account.
- To be an administrator of that Page.
If you're not sure you meet them, follow the guide Verify that your Facebook / Instagram / Meta account is professional.
How to tell this case apart from others
| What you see | What it is | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Both networks" and "Facebook only" grayed out with a padlock | this case: the Facebook permission is missing | reconnect, as above |
| "Coming soon" on the Facebook row | the permission is under review by Meta; it's not your account | wait, no need to reconnect |
| An error when publishing to Instagram | it's a different problem | see Instagram publication gives an error: Can't generate carousel |
| The connection appears disconnected | the permission expired or was revoked on Meta's side | connect again from Settings |
In the meantime, can I publish to Facebook another way?
Yes, manually: you publish to Instagram from Mapaprop and then share that post to your Page from the Instagram app. The steps are in How can I publish to my Facebook page from Mapaprop.
It's an alternative, not the solution: reconnecting lets you publish to both networks at once, from Mapaprop.
